Last updated: 19 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how DanderDog.com (“DanderDog,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit danderdog.com (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

DanderDog is an independent, informational website about dog allergens and allergy-aware dog ownership. We do not sell products directly, and we do not knowingly collect more information than we need to run the Site.

Who we are

The Site is operated by Adrian V., the independent writer behind DanderDog (“the operator”). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at adrian@danderdog.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us directly. If you subscribe to our newsletter, leave a comment, or contact us, we collect the information you choose to provide — typically your name and email address, and the content of your message.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical data when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring pages, and the dates and times of your visits. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see “Cookies” below).

We do not collect sensitive personal information (such as health, financial, or government-ID data), and we do not ask you to submit it. Please do not send us sensitive information through the Site.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content.
  • Send our newsletter and respond to your messages (only where you have asked us to).
  • Understand how visitors use the Site through aggregate analytics.
  • Display and measure affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure).
  • Detect, prevent, and address security issues, spam, and abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them to make the Site work, remember your preferences, and understand traffic patterns. The categories we use:

  • Essential cookies — required for the Site to function (for example, security and caching).
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the Site (for example, Google Analytics).
  • Affiliate cookies — set by our partners (for example, Amazon) to attribute referrals when you click an affiliate link.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, and where required we will ask for your consent through a cookie banner. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.

Third-party services we use

We rely on trusted third parties that may process limited data on our behalf or set their own cookies. These currently include:

  • Google Analytics — website analytics. See Google’s Privacy Policy for how it handles data.
  • Our website hosting provider — serves and stores the Site.
  • Our email service provider — delivers our newsletter, if you choose to subscribe.
  • Amazon Associates and other affiliate programs — referral tracking. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Each third party handles data under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:

  • With the service providers listed above, so they can perform services for us.
  • When required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
  • In connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), in which case we will notify you.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict its use, and to opt out of certain processing.

  • Newsletter: you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
  • Cookies: you can manage cookies through your browser and our cookie banner.
  • EEA/UK visitors (GDPR): you may access, correct, erase, or port your data, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal bases are consent (for the newsletter and non-essential cookies) and legitimate interests (for running and securing the Site).
  • California visitors (CCPA/CPRA): you may request access to or deletion of your personal information and are entitled not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at adrian@danderdog.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data retention and security

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International visitors

The Site is operated remotely, and our service providers may be located in different countries. Regardless of where you are located, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries other than your own, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
